I have been showing National Geographic's Lewis & Clark's Expedition in 10 -12 minute segments.
We have been discussing what happened in that time period. It is amazing how much they remember and predict!
Make a booklet for each student
For the first month, I introduce each center to the whole class.
Everyone has a copy of the reference book and they answer a few questions to understand what they have to do in the center.
Each time I meet with a class, I read from an age-appropriate book about Lewis and Clark for 10 - 15 minutes.
After the story, they go to their centers for 15 minutes.
They also practice keyboarding and technology literacy for 15 - 20 minutes.
